Happy Halloween All! Last night we got together and carved punkins. Paige had a ball, even if she was a tad perturbed at not being able to cut the face out herself- she did get to take the ‘guts’ out and draw her OWN face on. Ken got fancy and used his wood cutting tools to get his face just perfect. I think it shows. Mine took me about five minutes and as usual it took on a definite life of it’s own (mine is right, Paige’s middle, and Ken’s left).
Paige is so excited to trick or treat tonight, I’m going to have to hold her down until 5 o’clock! she already had her costume on and i took pictures. I photoshopped one of her and it looks like she’s flying… she loves it.
I went out and had my hair cut, halloween seemed like as good of a time as any… it turned out well!
Anyway, there will be more pictures to follow tomorrow. i know you just wait on the edge of your seats for these photos, so i won’t leave you hanging…
Until then

The day went well! We arrived early for the show so Paige and Elizabeth were able to secure great spots for the show. The Doodlebops made a fashionable and LATE appearance, which is not cool when dealing with a crowd of incredibly hyped preschoolers. Once the show started everything was OK and Paige made her dad and I proud by rushing the stage like a true rock fan in training. Elizabeth even made me smile by getting down and jiggy with every single song!! After the show we managed to lose Paige in the shuffle of the crowd and found her pulling on Deedee’s dress (virtually, she was parked that close). Deedee quickly whipped Paige up in her arms and Ken was able to get a shot. Elizabeth was able to meet Moe on the other side of the stage, he was a super nice guy too! The entire show lasted 20 minutes (yes, read my type, twenty minutes) but it’s something I will remember for a long time. Paige’s first brush with celebrity.
So cool.

P.s. as always, there are more pictures in flickr, I’ve added "notes" to a couple of them so click on the shots and the run your cursor over the picture to see the note squares.

Unfortunately for me, my children don’t observe daylight savings time. I didn’t get to make the most of the ‘fall back’ in time and my extra hour of sleep. Oh well.
Paige has been bouncing off the walls since she woke up because today is the day she gets to see ‘the Doodblebops!" . It’s a show that paige watches every morning. They are going to be putting on a show at a mall in Victoria so we are packing up the kids (neighbor Elizabeth included) and going to see the show. I’m excited too, not because I get to see the doodlebops (heaven forbid) but because I get to see the excitment in Paige’s eyes when she sees her favorite tv characters in real life. It’s definitely going to be fun to watch and YES i’ll bring the camera this time!
i’m a tad cheesed that I missed SNL last night. Ken said it was a good one, with Lance Armstrong hosting and Sheryl Crow as musical guest. Of course my husband was working night shift so he probably thought watching paint dry was terribly hysterical. Love you honey :0)
I’m off to get ready for the rest of the day… I’ll keep you all updated when we get home.

This morning i noticed that Paige’s Dora doll had some of her hair cut off at crazy angles. So like any parent I asked her about it. She nonchallantly tells me that she cut it a long time ago. My gosh, where did the hair go? I never found any piles of cut hair in her bedroom or the bathroom… I’m just thankfull that it was Dora’s bangs and not Paige’s bangs. Whew!!
I’ve had one of those days, I got up to feed Nolan during the wee hours of the morning and wasn’t able to fall back asleep. When I finally did wake up with the kids this morning I was startled by a knock at the door. My hair hadn’t seen a comb yet (scary) and I was still in my PJ’s (gorgeous). The postman was delivering a parcel from my sister and Mom. Paige was immediately in awe of the 15 bottles of sparkly and metallic nail polish that Jessica sent. Then she discovered that there were clothes in the box for her, within second she was stripping naked and getting into the new togs. It’s the first time in weeks that she’s worn seasonally appropriate clothes. Thanks Mom! I was the lucky recipient of a pair of shoes from my sis.
Unfortunately for me, they arrived on a bad day (in my little world) so one of the shoes was a size too small. It’s been one of those kind of days.
Just then, my neighbor calls and asks me "How was music makers?". Son. of. a. Bitch. I forgot it was Thursday and music makers day. It’s not really a big deal but when you know how much fun your kid has at these little things, it kind of is a big deal. She doesn’t get to do a lot with other groups of kids so I’m mad at myself for forgetting. Annnywayyy,
The afternoon has been shaping up much nicer ::fingers crossed:: let’s hope it stays that way.
Wish me luck.
Later gaters,

yes, I’m actually on time this week! This quote really puts into words something that I’ve realized in the last few years of my life. I suffer from depression as do many other people and I’m sure that a lot of people would live a happier life if they just got on the medication. For the rest of the people that walk around with frowns on their faces and furrowed brows, this quote is for you.
Bad things happen to good people all of the time. The only thing that separates the successful and happy people from the rest is all found in their attitude towards the bad situations. I wish I had been able to realize this earlier in life- but better late than never.
Do what the lady says will ya? Be happy, and be happy like you mean it!

I was reading the news this morning like I always do in my morning ritual. Something caught my eye in the ‘Tech News’ section so i read on. The article was about some software called ‘Ajax’ that is revolutionizing how we browse the web. In the article they mention a web based word processor that uses the Ajax technology. It’s called Writely. If you are too poor a student, and can’t afford a word processor or perhaps you are writing an article on the go- this would be the website to visit. You can upload your existing documents, edit them, share them with collegues and save it to your desktop!! I thought this was sooo doggone cool, I could have used it when I was in college since all of the computers in the library ran off windows 3.1 and only used a very basic version of a word processor called ‘Paperclip’ if I remember correctly. The best part about this magnificent piece of technology??? It’s free. I love technology but I love FREE technology even more.
Pass it on,
Enjoy.

I thought it would be nice to share some of Paige’s favorite websites. She recently learned how to use a mouse thanks to a free Dora the Explorer computer game that came in her cereal box. I have been telling everyone that it was the best 4 dollar video game (that came with a free box of cereal) that I have ever bought. The only problem is that now I am competing for computer time with her. I didn’t think that would become a problem until she was MUCH older. I’m proud of her for being so comfortable on the devil machine (which is how I fondly refer to our computer) but also frustrated that we only have ONE computer! LOL! Everyone should have such terrible problems hey? Anyway- For those of you who also have children that love to use up your blogging time, I’d like to share the webpages that cause all of the problems.
Disney (who’s that??)
CBC Kids
The Treehouse
Nick Jr. UK
Nick Jr. US
There is also a Barbie site that Paige loves, but it’s hard to navigate and the games are kinda stupid. Do you think they would appreciate the feedback?? They’ll probably say "Come back to our site when she is older than THREE."
This is where I’ll leave you, but if you have anything new to add to my list- PLEASE share the wealth… When she has played everything there is to play on these sites, I may be in trouble. I’ll have to break out the big guns, playdough.
Take care everyone,
~jen
