Updates from the Island

Img_7533 Now all my guests have come and gone and it’s time to get back to the daily routine (really tried hard not to say ‘grind’ right there).  I had an unreal amount of energy yesterday and used it to run a few errands and catch up on a few household chores that had fallen behind.  Today it’s all about entertaining the troops.  Thank goodness for a stack of poker chips left on the kitchen window sill, the kids have been playing ‘Store’ out on the grass and I’ve had a break.  It’s nice and much needed at the moment.

Summer has definitely arrived, it’s been nice and sunny and toasty warm outside.  I’m glad it was here in time for my sister (and Tanya) to enjoy while they visited.  Paige got a new bathing suit with her birthday money from her great Grandma Jeannie and Grandpa Joe (see the photo above) I haven’t been able to throw it in the wash yet because she’s still wearing it.  Also, thanks Grandma Jo for the ‘credit card’ (gift card) to Toys r us, Paige can’t wait to spend it.

Over heard at breakfast

Img_5397 "Aunty, Guido is a Fork lift and Nolan broke the klifts off…"

Please accept my many apologies for lack of blogulation but My sister is out here for a holiday.  When sisters are playing blogs get put on the back burner, you know the old saying…

Anyway- My main computer is back at home and running in tip top form.  Once again, we had a fried power supply cord… that seems to happen to us a lot.  So as soon as my sister is on her way home I’ll be working on sorting through the thousands of photos I’ve taken over the last two weeks and try to post a few catch up blogs.

Saturday is Paige’s birthday party with all of her friends and I’ll try to some photos sometime shortly there after.

Take it easy,

Wow, where did the last few days go? My visit with my really good friend Tanya went wonderfully. I really needed the little break from kid land. She has more patience than you would expect from a single person, thank goodness. The kids loved her and can’t wait for her next visit.
Did you hear that Tanya? Your NEXT visit?? When is it going to be?
Don’t let me pressure you or anything…
As for blogging and photos and the like- My computer was acting up the entire time Tanya was here so I was unable to post any photos!! I know, I can hardly believe it myself. Our main computer is now in the shop and I’m using our extra system to type out the blog via Flickr. I was able to post a few of the newest shots on there the but rest of the photos are on the hard drive that is in the system that I took to the shop. So you’ll have to wait for a dose of eye candy.
I haven’t stopped taking photos though, so there will be a lot to see when my main system comes back online, aren’t you excited!

Suz and family (my next door neighbors, for those of you who aren’t familiar) are officially all moved out today. It’s already kinda weird for me so we are heading over tonight after swimming lessons to ply them with booze and generally make pests of ourselves. Pretty much like we did before… only this time we have to hop in our new wheels to get home.

OH and the new wheels! I got a new vehicle for mother’s day! A 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe. I was shocked and in awe when he handed me the keys. It’s a beauty (I will post a photo or two when I am able!) Before you feel any jealousy remember, we still have to pay for it… it wasn’t a freebie. Where did I manage to find a husband like the one I have?? He listens to things that I don’t even realize I’m saying out loud and them comes home with them. He’s officially, the worlds BEST husband. Something tells me that Father’s day is going to pale in comparison…

anyway I have some laundry to fold before my son wakes up…
I’ll blog again soon and try to get more photos up on flickr.

Enjoy the sunshine if you got some,
~jen

Tis the season for Guests.

Someone stop me, I’m a cleaning machine!  Well, not really but it felt good to think that for a few moments.  I’ve spent the last few days tackling chores around the house in preparation for my good friend, Tanya, to visit.  We are all really excited to see her again, it’s been nearly 3 years!  Too long!

Introducing our family’s newest addition…

My new Canon 30D.

We have spent the last few hours getting to know each other and there is still so much to know!!  I am excited though, the photos that I’ve managed to take so far are head and shoulders above anything I’m used to capturing.  What a thrill.

I haven’t had a chance to upload anything to flickr yet (except this one that Suz took and this one I snapped right out of the box)- I only JUST managed to figure out how to get the photos off the camera and on to my computer… progress!

It’s the start of a new photographic era for me- the Canon Era!

Are you as excited as I am???

Mullets anyone?

So my husband recently purchased one of those community ‘gift paks’ that contains coupons for free stuff at retailers all over the city.  Since I was overdo for a hair cut and I only WANTED a trim a free haircut seemed to be fool proof.  Not so.

The salon I went to was absolutely gorgeous, and I want to have the floor plan so I can build a duplicate to live in (I’m talking about Mafeo’s, for you locals).  The dude that cut my  hair however, Richard, was a little scattered.  I explained in detail how I wanted him to trim my hair and he did the EXACT opposite.  I could just puke.  He’s cut me a set of bangs that would make a sheep dog jealous.  Thank god for flat irons, that’s all i gotta say.  I’ve always said- that it’s no big deal, hair grows… but GAWD!  It’s going to be a really annoying six months looking at this f*cked up hair.

Ken assures me it looks fine- but for some reason I can’t get over myself when I look in the mirror.  I want to shave my head.  Eventually I had to put it up yesterday so I couldn’t see it down in it’s mulleticious glory.

I want to bring little Archer home…

I watched this news segment this morning and it made me a little bit angry.  Then I saw the little puppy’s face and decided if he was able to forgive, so could I.  I also want to bring him home, I think Piper and Archer would make great friends.
