Long days of summer.

Img_9630_2 The last couple of days have been restful.  I purposely took naps and did very little in an effort to prepare for the three days of travel ahead.  I know it’s going to be a beautiful drive down to Disney land, I’ve been most of the way down I5 before… so the camera will be ready to rock at a moment’s notice.

The best part of this whole trip will be seeing the kids faces in Disney land- it’s going to be so exciting… they have no idea what they are in for.  If I can survive the drive there- it will be great (i suffer acute to severe car sickness, wish me luck).

Another job I’ve been working hard at (besides laundry and re-packing bags) is editing and uploading photos to my flickr page.  Please go there and check out the stuff from my brother’s wedding festivities, and the many trips we took to friend’s places etc… comment on your favorites, I love the feedback!  Of course, you need to be a member of the flickr community to comment, but you already are, RIGHT???  The photo above is my sister on the left, me in the center and my mom on the right… aren’t we a foxy group??

Well I should hit the sack, we are off to Seattle tomorrow to start the first leg of our trip.
I’m going to try and keep a paper journal to blog if/when I have a chance so you probably won’t hear from me until our return at the beginning of August.

See you then,

the scoop so far…

So the first week here I was busy tending to Nolan sick with the stomach flu.  Then it was MY turn.  I spent this last week dealing with the vomit, the runs, and never ending explosive gas.  It was the worst I’ve felt in probably 7 years.  Thank goodness i was here and had many people to watch my kids while I slept the days away, because, by golly did I need it!
I was feeling mostly better for my brother’s wedding on Saturday.  They had it in Banff and it was a beautiful day for it.  Banff was under major construction which made traffic more of a headache than usual, the heat was up into the 30’s as well.  I can’t forget to mention the scourge of mosquitoes that were out in Banff garden’s while we were having our photos taken. Even taking the bugs into consideration, the day was lovely- my kids were cute and performed their duties wonderfully.  The bride was beautiful and my brother was…well, he cleaned up really well.  Just kidding Joe!  He was a happy groom, that’s for sure.  It was a great day (did I mention that???) anyway, I have posted as many photos as I have had a chance to upload to flickr here… check em out, I’ll be adding more soon.

The problem with staying at my parents house is that there is always someone on the damn computer!  I never seem to get a chance during the day because I’m busy chatting, doing something with the kids or running errands with my mom.  I’m trying my best to blog!!

Transformers_copy
Last night we left the kids behind and went on a double date with Joe and Misty (my bro and new wife) with my little brother josh as a 5th wheel (it’s all good though).  We went to see Transformers.  WOW, i’m in LOVE with that movie, it is bloody amazing!!!  I want to go and see it again, I loved it so much.  Not only were the graphic effects amazing, but it actually had a really interesting plot, a lot of action, a few laughs and even a few tugs at your heart strings… Great!  The movie wasn’t lacking in any way- and it give it two thumbs up and all the rest of my fingers and toes too!!  If you grew up with the transformers cartoons or your brother’s transformers you’ll probably get a real jolt out of this film.  I sure did.  It is what movies are all about, really.

My happy moment for the day was walking into ‘the Children’s Place’ store and finding out that all the previously marked down items were another 50% off!!!  I walked through the store and loaded my arms to find out that the total only came to 56 BUCKS!! I love getting a good deal.

Anyway it’s late and I need to get my kids to bed…

Take care all!!

A holiday from the Holiday.

Img_8984Things have been humming along here in Alberta.  Mother nature has decided that we’ve seen enough lightning and heard enough thunder so now she’s turned up the heat. Considerably.  I don’t mind too much though, it’s nice.

Nolan has contracted the flu bug that Paige had before we left Nanaimo, only he’s managed to get the super sized version.
I actually took him into the ER because the child has had non stop diarrhea for the entire long weekend, and doesn’t want to eat or drink (not that I blame him).  They told me that if I can get him to take even a few sips of water now and again he should be fine.  Thank goodness.

Before the flu bug hit the kids were having fun, Paige does suffer a little bit of boredom while her uncle Jeff is at work but the dollar store helped us deal with that.  Nolan is in LOVE with all of the cars in this house.  No end to the amounts of cars, some of the still in their packages (which have been moved to higher ground now)!

The other day while my Mom was out, Nolan went into her ‘Bird room’ and opened one of the cages.  Of course one of the poor things flew out and we weren’t able to find it until the next day.  It died.  So now the bird room is off limits without Grandma Jo’s supervision.

We had fun on Canada day, the town was putting on an open air movie of Shrek in a ball diamond a few blocks away from my parent’s house.  We packed up blankets, chairs, snacks, bug repellent, and cameras and went to watch.  The movie was interrupted by a 25 minute intermission to display the fireworks and the kids were so excited, they were running around like decapitated chickens!  The mosquitoes were horrible and despite drenching ourselves in bug spray they still found us quite tasty so we went home right after the fireworks instead of watching the rest of the Movie.  Nolan was still talking about the fireworks the next day.  It was short and sweet, my kind of evening.

I was able to find an outfit for my brother’s wedding, and I’m actually pretty excited about it. The outfit, I mean (the wedding too, you know what I mean)…  Anyway, it doesn’t happen to often that I find something to wear that fits, never mind that I feel like I look GOOD in… so this is great. Now if I can manage to do something about my mullet before then, I’ll be happy.

Well I should go and hit the hay,
I’ll be posting more photos from Canada Day to flickr tomorrow!
